Building an AR

Post by jdm_AF » Fri Apr 29, 2016 9:14 pm

After eventually buying my brand new stripped LTT upper and lower receivers I'm gonna build a 556 AR what's some good affordable brands for some of the important parts of the rifle that anyone know of?

LTT has some good parts (at least for lowers). I haven't seen any of their uppers yet. You'll probably want to go with some good parts to compliment your setup such as a brownells lower parts kit. Good quality (about $80). That should keep you busy for a bit 8-)

If you want to free - float the barrel, for hand guards I'm using Midwest Industries Gem2 one piece series. So far I like it. They have many styles to choose from.

Once I get a supply lined up for upper and lower parts, we will have an builders kit that has the upper and lower assembled with a option for rifle or carbine length buffer tubes and a barrel length choice so you just have to add your stock and free-float hand guard choice.

Any idea if the supply will be available before the next executive order is pushed?

Here is the rifle I have mine on. I like the rail is all on piece and the round handguard feels really good in the hand.
