Anytime you sell a firearm privately without the use of an FFL, it is wise to do a bill of sale. Both for the seller and also the buyer. I have attached one that I have found on the internet and have been using for a while now. I take no credit for creating this. My recommendation is to prepare two copies, one for the buyer and one for the seller. Keep the completed bill of sale in a safe place. Should that firearm ever get traced back to you, you a record of the sale and the contact information for who you sold it too. If for whatever reason the buyer objects to completing a bill of sale with his info, I would be very suspicious and not sell him a firearm.
Cheers,
Brian
